So, I've mentioned the people in my life a little bit already, but I thought I would dedicate them a bit more on this page. I just know that a lot of who I am today, could not come into being without ever have meeting all the people I know now. I feel like my identity as a daughter, as a sister, as a friend, and as a fellow person someone could meet, is just as important to me as who I am as an individual. Kind of like part of my identity is sort of a collage of everyone I've come to love? Ughhh wait if anyone I know reads this, I am not this sappy!! Nor sentimental!! I am super cool and nonchalant... totally!
Well, for starters I feel like I should start with my family. I have a mother, a father, and two sisters. I am the middle child with an older sister and a younger sister. My family immigrated together, minus the baby of the family because she was born in California! If you have any experience being from an immigrant family, you definitely understand the highs and lows. Especially since we came from Pakistan, which was not a very popular country to come from during the early 2000's. Besides the struggle with money, language, culture, we also had to deal with a level of racism that my parents had never experienced back in Pakistan. I think that played a role in why me and my sisters were so close. No matter how much time passes, I'll think fondly of us playing games, watching cartoons, and sticking together when things were dysfunctional. Here's a pic of us as kids, can you tell which one is me!
Now to spend a little bit of time glazing my friends. I've made a good bit of friends as of now. A few from highschool, a few I met through my little sister, a few I met from online spaces, and a few I've met on campus! I have friends I can game with, friends I can shop with, and friends that when I talk to them, I mostly see their profile pic and username. You know, when I was younger, I used to be very lonely. I used to be a sort of back up friend for people? Like, nobody actually wanted to talk with me, it was only when their other friends weren't available. Plus, I wasn't as charismatic as I am now. In fact, I was that kid that just couldn't get the hint that people were laughing at her and not with her. And I do think that left a scar on me. I used to pray that someone new would come to school, and that they would like me and we could be friends. I saw what friendships looked like in the media I consumed, and I wanted that so badly. I miss a lot of the friends I had before I moved, but in a lot of ways, I'm still very close to them. And the people I've gotten to know now are also dear to me. I can't wait to hang out with my friends, those that live nearby and those that live away. :]
